MIDLAND - Environment Canada has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Midland Wednesday evening, based on eyewitness accounts and damage photos. The federal agency issued an statement Thursday at 9:16 a.m. It was the third tornado of the season in Ontario, according to Environment Canada,

The first big snowstorm of the season for the southeastern part of the province is well underway. Environment Canada meteorologist Devon Telford says the low pressure system is now moving south of the Burin Peninsula. He says conditions will continue to deteriorate before they get better.
